Patricia Banford describes being carjacked by Abraham Pearson, suspect wanted for stabbing deputy
DETROIT (WXYZ) - "I will kill you." That's what Abraham Pearson said to Patricia Banford as he carjacked her and fled with her minivan. Pearson is suspected of stabbing a Sheriff's deputy and escaping from Detroit's Frank Murphy Hall of Justice.
Banford tells 7 Action News that Pearson said, "I don't want to hurt you," before then telling her, "I will kill you."
She was inside her car when Pearson "appeared out of nowhere."
"Get out or I'll kill you," she recalls him saying.
Banford says he asked twice for the van. She got out and he then took off.
She credits police with acting quickly when she reported the carjacking to nearby officers. "Within thirty minutes, they had an idea of where he was at," she says.
The minivan was found later, abandoned near Lafayette and Concord on the city's east side. Banford was thankful that she was unharmed.
