DETROIT (WXYZ) - The Cass Tech High School football star who pleaded guilty to body-slamming a school security guard was sentenced to jail time and probation Friday morning.
Jayru Campbell will serve 60 days in Wayne County Jail starting July 28. He will also be on probation for 15 months, submit to random drug testing, undergo psychological counseling and anger management classes. The judge ordered that he also serve 75 hours of community service.
Campbell previously pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of Aggravated Assault in exchange for the prosecutor dismissing a felony charge.
The 17-year-old slammed a guard to the floor back on January 22 after he was confronted about a dress code violation.
Video of the incident quickly circulated on YouTube and other social media outlets.
