DETROIT (WXYZ) - Federal Judge Matthew Leitman has ruled that Congressman John Conyers be put back on the August Primary ballot.
Earlier on Friday, the Michigan Secretary of State Elections Division had issued a determination that Congressman John Conyers did not have enough signatures to be on the ballot.
Judge Leitman's ruling supersedes that decision.
7 Action News reporter Jim Kiertzner talked with the Congressman, and was the first to break the news to him.
The Federal Judge's ruling was expected.
At a hearing on Wednesday Judge Letiman indicated this issue has already been ruled unconstitutional by the U. S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals in a similar Ohio case.
The ballot battle began over whether circulators who gathered signatures had to be registered voters.
