DETROIT (WXYZ) - Jury deliberations are now under way in the Kilpatrick corruption case. What will they decide?
The jury met briefly on Friday after the closing arguments. They asked the judge if they could spend Friday afternoon reviewing their notes.
The jury will have their notes and a copy of the redacted indictment.
The original indictment started out as 100 pages-- it's now down to 25, because charges have been dropped along the way.
Another reason for the reduction: one of the original defendants – Victor Mercado – pleaded guilty about 1/3 of the way into the trial, which meant federal prosecutors never presented the evidence against him.
There's no way to tell when the jury will deliver a verdict. Experts expect deliberations could take at least a week, if not much longer.
