Large marijuana growing operation discovered with pit bulls standing guard

DETROIT (WXYZ) - Detroit police raided a home on the city's west side and discovered a large marijuana growing operation with pit bulls standing guard.

Police say they found about 40 marijuana plants, a gun and nine pit bulls in the backyard of a house on the 18100 block of Kentfield Street.

The Detroit Dog Rescue, a no-kill animal shelter, has offered to take in the dogs.

The investigation is ongoing, but police say it appears there may have also been organized animal fighting at the home.
