According to Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy, Deandre Simmons, 42, is charged with Driving with License Suspended Causing Death; Reckless Driving Causing Death; Operating Under the Influence Causing Death; Driving While License Suspended Causing Serious Injury; Reckless Driving Causing Serious Impairment and Operating While Intoxicated Causing Serious Injury.

It is alleged that Simmons was intoxicated when he drove his car on the wrong side of the street, hitting and killing the man from South Lyon who was crossing Canfield. A 65-year-old man and 65-year-old woman, both from Milford, were also injured.

"This guy comes barreling down in a blue pickup truck going like 45 miles an hour down Canfield," said a witness on the scene.

Sources say Simmons driver admitted to taking two Ecstasy pills that morning. Investigators believe the driver may have been drinking as well.

The woman is still in the hospital while the 65-year-old man was released.

Simmons was arraigned on the charges Saturday afternoon in Romulus District Court. He was given a $100,00 cash bond. If he is released, he will have to be on an alcohol tether.
