DETROIT (WXYZ) - Detroit Mayor Dave Bing released a statement Friday, explaining the Executive Order he signed to establish a non-fraternization policy for all City of Detroit employees.
"The public must know that I hold City employees to a higher standard of conduct, in order to ensure a fair, conflict-free workplace," said Bing in a statement. "This policy affects all employees, including the Detroit Police Department, pending approval by the Board of Police Commissioners."
Under the order, city employees would be allowed to have relationships with each other, but they need to act in a way that doesn't interfere with job performance. Also, if it is a superior/subordinate relationship, both people must disclose it to HR.
