DETROIT (WXYZ) - The Detroit Land Bank Authority has expanded from a few employees to around 90 since Mayor Duggan took office.
Since then, the top leadership continues to change.
In January 2014, Richard Wiener was tapped to be the executive director. He didn't stay long. Less than a year in the position, he left and November 1st, 2014.
Kevin Simowski was promoted to the position. Now, he is out.
7 Action News has learned, Carrie Lewand-Monroe has been named executive director of the authority effective today.
Before leaving his position, Simowski was in charge when Kim Homan, the Deputy General Counsel, was terminated. According to paperwork, her termination was involuntary and she was given a $24,231.00 severance check.
The change in leadership comes at a vital time for the land bank, which is running out of money for its house demolition and neighborhood stabilization program.
