DETROIT (WXYZ) - A mother is heartbroken and furious after one of the suspects in connection with her 12-year-old daughter's murder was set free.
Heather Brown was released from the Wayne County jail Monday, apparently able to pay her $50,000 (cash surety) bond. Brown allegedly drove her son to Kade'jah Davis' house last Tuesday. Police say Brown's son, 19-year-old Joshua, started shooting into the house.
12 year-old Kade'jah was hit as she sat in her living room.
Brown was charged with "accessory after the fact," which is infuriating to Kade'jah's mother, Amanda Talton.
"My baby is gone and this lady gets to walk free? Accessory after the fact? How is it after the fact? She was here. She walked around her vehicle," Talton told Action News.
Kade'jah'smurder occurred in the aftermath of a petty argument. The suspects in apparently accused Amanda of not turning in a lost cell phone.
The 12 year-old celebrated her birthday just days before she was gunned down. Kade'jah was a straight-A student.
"They should get the electric chair, really. My baby is gone," Talton said.
Both Heather and Joshua Brown will be back in court February 17 th for their preliminary exams. Joshua remains at the Wayne County Jail on a list of charges, including first-degree murder.
