DETROIT (WXYZ) - Michigan's largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender festival is underway in Hart Plaza.
Motor City Pride runs the weekend of June 8 and 9. Organizers say it is an opportunity for the LGBT community to "come together, celebrate our diversity and work for equality for all Michigan citizens."
The festival opened Saturday with Detroit AIGI's Beyond the Bar Art and Design Showcase at the State Gallery.
There was also the March Towards Equality parade on Griswold from Fort Street to Hart Plaza on Sunday.
Events run from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Saturday and from noon to 7:00 pm on Sunday.
