A headstone in the front lawn of a vacant house on Detroit’s east side has some people wondering if a body is buried on the lot.

The name on the headstone is Anna Danna. She was a wife and mother and died in 1963 at the age of 73.  But is the headstone for real? It’s something many neighbors have wondered. The house is currently bank owned and 7 Action News was unable to reach the previous owners.

However, longtime residents on the block say, the corner lot is not Anna Danna’s final resting spot.

Twenty or so years ago, Anna Danna’s son bought his mother a new headstone and placed her old one in the front yard as a joke.  He was known to pull pranks on the neighborhood kids. It’s a joke that lives on, because new people to the area who don’t know the story, are still guessing.
