New Providence Baptist Church seeks donations for giveaway

DETROIT (WXYZ) - New Providence Baptist Church will provide thousands of individuals in need with “FREE” clothing,  shoes, accessories, health and utility assistance at its 14th Bi-Annual “FREE” Clothing, Shoes and More Giveaway. It's set for Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

New Providence Baptist Church clothed over 20,000 individuals and fed over 50,000 through this “FREE” giveaway. The church enjoys blessing the Metropolitan Detroit community during these tough economic times.
The church hosts this giveaway twice a year, one week before Easter and the 1st Saturday in October.

Donations of new and gently used infant, children and adult clothing, coats, shoes, jewelry, purses, accessories, toys, bicycles, children books, walkers, car seats, play pens, and strollers are now being accepted Monday-Friday from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.; Saturday September 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 8:00-12:00 p.m.

The last day to donate is Saturday, September 27, 2014. All donations must be clean and in good condition. New Providence will not sell the items. All donations are tax deductible. Bedding, undergarments and furniture
will not be accepted.

New Providence Baptist Church is located at 18211 Plymouth in Detroit (corner of Plymouth Road and
Southfield Freeway). Admission to the giveaway event is free on a first come  first served basis.  Gates open at 8:00 a.m. Please bring a bag with you.

Walmart has donated boxes of new clothing and basic necessities and has pledged to give more in the coming months. Forgotten Harvest will provide food and perishable items to families in attendance. Representatives from Karmanos Breast Cancer & Cervical Cancer Program and DTE Home Energy Consultation will be on site to provide information about their “FREE” medical and utility assistance programs
