DETROIT (WXYZ) - Police are investigating a fatal accident that left one person dead and another in critical condition.
It happened on Seyburn, near Warren on Detroit's east side.
Police say they spotted a Chevrolet speeding down Gratiot at around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Officers turned on their lights and began to turn around to stop the car when it took off.
Just a short distance away on Seyburn, the Chevy flew through a stop sign and slammed into a Cadillac.
One passenger in the Chevy was killed and another was critically injured. The driver ran from the scene, but was captured a short time later.
The driver of the Cadillac was dazed, but was not injured.
