DETROIT (WXYZ) - The North End Youth Improvement Council is looking for giving volunteers to help make sure children across the Detroit area have a happy holiday.
"Adoptive parents" are needed to purchase warm clothing for children in need. The program only requires at least warm coat or outfit, but the children will appreciate toys and other goodies as well.
Delores Bennett began the much needed program over 40 years ago. This year more than 2,000 children have signed up so far.
The parents will get their "adoptive" kids at a big party at the Cobo Conference Center. It'll take place from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Friday, December 7.
