Police seek help and reward is offered in hit-and-run death of Detroit father of seven

Detroit (WXYZ) - What began as a fight inside Jimmy’s Lounge resulted  in the tragic death of a father of seven outside the bar on Detroit's east side.

Roderick Bridges was killed by a hit-and-run driver after the bar fight spilled out on the street and gunfire erupted.

Surveillance video obtained by 7 Action News showed Roderick Bridges rushing from his cousin’s birthday celebration as the situation escalated.

With shots flying outside the bar, Bridges either crouched for cover in front of  parked SUV or fell in front of the vehicle. In the midst of the chaos, the driver took off, running over Bridges.  He did not stop.

Four months after his death on November 2, Crime Stoppers has offered a $2,500 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the driver.  Family members and friends are pleading for help.

“This has been the worst nightmare of my life," said Satara Wofford, a close friend.

Bridges was 32 years old.  He was at Jimmy's Lounge to celebrate the birthday of a cousin.

Cynthia Bridges is grieving her son's death. “We just want this person to come forward and live up to what you've done. You’ve hurt all of us.”

In 2013, $90,500 was approved in cash rewards for tips to Crime Stoppers that solved cases.
