St. Patrick's Parade kicks off in Detroit's Corktown on Sunday

DETROIT (WXYZ) - The 55th St. Patrick's Parade kicked off in Detroit's Corktown this afternoon.

The parade started at 2:00 p.m. on Michigan Avenue. Thousands of people took part in the parade which spanned from 6th Street to 14th Street.

Most people were sporting their best Irish green.

Corktown is Detroit's oldest surviving neighborhood and is known to be where a large population of Irish settled.
