(WXYZ) - WXYZ-TV is pleased to welcome Detroit Free Press editorial page editor Stephen Henderson to the Detroit 2020 Team. While continuing his role with the newspaper, Henderson joins Channel 7 as the Detroit 2020 Insider, providing his unique perspective on hot-button issues in the 5 pm and 7 pm newscasts.

Scripps divisional GM and WXYZ vice-president and general manager, Ed Fernandez. “His insight and perspective on the city will help take D2020 to the next level and further solidify our mission to make Detroit a better place to work, live and raise families.”
Detroit 2020 is WXYZ’s decade long, multi-platform community service initiative. With the motto, Unify, Inspire, Act, Detroit 2020 is designed to address the challenges facing the region through in-depth reporting, analysis, and conversations with citizens and leaders.
Henderson, 43, has been the Free Press' editorial page editor since 2009. He oversees all of the paper's opinion content and writes a regular column. He previously worked as a reporter, editorial writer and editor for the Free Press, the Lexington (KY) Herald-Leader, the Chicago Tribune and the Baltimore Sun. He also spent four years covering the U.S. Supreme Court for the Knight Ridder (now McClatchy) Washington Bureau. A Detroit native who lives downtown, Henderson is a graduate of University of Detroit High School and the University of Michigan.
