Two teenage girls are telling their story of survival. They had just made it back to their car after a night at the Ford Fireworks show in Detroit last night, when bullets started flying.

What started off as a wonderful, uneventful night at Detroit's fireworks show, quickly changed for these two 17-year-old girls as they were walking back to their car.

Too scared to show their faces since the shooter is still on the run, they told us how they were shot at last night near Fort and Cass.

"I remember looking out the back window, then turned my head straight," one of the victims said. "As soon as my head was straight, I heard the shots. We all just ducked down and we stayed there for a minute, and I just felt like -- it's over. Done."

One girl showed us the bandages where she was grazed near her elbow.

They claim one of their friends tried talking to a girl, not knowing she had a boyfriend. That boyfriend got mad, and wouldn't let it go. They say he was yelling at them from across the street, at times screaming gang names, as they walked along.

Three of them were huddled in the back seat, ducking for cover, as someone started firing shots at the car. They realized their other 17-year-old friend was shot in the stomach, and they had to drive away for safety.

One of the unidentified teens consoled the boy who was shot, "Breathe! You good, you good, you good. You got this," she said. "He was like 'it's hot', and I'm like 'I know. Just breathe. You got this, you OK. You gonna be good, just breathe.' That's all I could tell him. I didn't know what else to say."

The friends flagged down a security guard and then some officers for help.

The 17-year-old boy who was shot in the stomach has been released from the hospital.

The gunman remains on the run.

If you know anything, call Detroit Police.
