Teens to be arraigned in brutal beating of driver Steve Utash

DETROIT (WXYZ) - The two teenagers arrested Saturday for the assault on driver Steve Utash are expected to be arraigned in court soon.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's office tells us 17-year-old Bruce Edward Wimbush Jr. is being charged with assault with intent to murder and assault with intent to do great bodily harm. He was expected to be arraigned Monday at 2:30, but the arraignment has been postponed.

The Prosecutor also tells us the 16-year-old has not been charged and is currently being held in Wayne county Juvenile Detention Center, and is expected to also be in court this afternoon at the detention center. The prosecutor is currently determining whether to charge the 16-year-old as an adult.

Utash was driving on Morang Road in Detroit Wednesday, when an 11-year-old boy stepped out in front of Utash's car and was hit.

When he stopped to help the boy, a group of men came over and started hitting and kicking Utash.

Now, Utash is fighting for his life at the hospital and is in a medically-induced coma. His family has started a GoFundMe page to help pay for his medical bills. Utash doesn't have health insurance. Currently, they've raised over $110,000.

According to Detroit Police, Wimbush and the16-year-old were arrested Saturday morning in their homes thanks to the help of the community.

Police are still looking for 10 to 12 more people involved in the attack.
