DETROIT (WXYZ) - Ten horses that appeared to be in bad shape, have been rescued from a warehouse on Detroit's west side.
Cruelty investigators for the Michigan Humane Society along with Detroit Animal Control seized the horses from the industrial warehouse - where they appeared neglected and in poor health.
"It is appalling to see the callousness that some have toward these beautiful animals," said Debby MacDonald, MHS Chief Cruelty Investigator. "Thankfully, these horses will not have to suffer without care any longer. We are very thankful to our partners on this rescue, because without them, these horses would not be in a safe place receiving lifesaving medical treatment."
An investigation is under way to determine who is responsible for neglecting the horses.
According to the Michigan Humane Society, it will cost tens of thousands of dollars to provide care and treatment for the horses.
