Testimony continues today in Kilpatrick Corruption Case

(WXYZ) - Prosecutors will be back at it again today -- laying out their case against Kwame Kilpatrick and three other defendants.

The first day of testimony in the federal corruption case wrapped up yesterday.

The first person to take the stand was IRS agent Ron Sauer.

He told the jury that he tracked more than $541-thousand in cash deposits when Kilpatrick was mayor and none of it came from Kilpatrick's $170-thousand annual salary.

The defense said some of the deposits came from birthday presents and other gifts.

Some of Kilpatricks' former body guards also testified yesterday.

One of them said he was told to go to Kilpatrick's house and get $1,500 from a shoe in the closet so Kilpatrick could pay a credit card bill.
