Thieves use sledgehammer in party store robbery, search for suspects under way

DETROIT (WXYZ) - The search is on for two thieves who broke into a party store on Van Dyke near Harper around 4:30 a.m. Thursday in Detroit.

The thieves used a sledgehammer to crash through a cinder block wall to get inside the store.

Surveillance video shows the thieves pushing drywall out of the way as they climb through the hole they made on the side of the building.

The thieves can also be seen grabbing money out of the registers and using the sledgehammer to break open the safe.

The party store owner is offering a $2,000 reward to anyone who can help Detroit Police find the two men responsible.

They got away with a gun, about $4,500 in cash and cigarettes.
