DETROIT (WXYZ) - The third and final Motor City Makeover cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, in Districts 6 & 7 on the southwest and west sides of Detroit.
There are a number of very large cleanups scheduled for May 17, including:
· Clark Park in southwest Detroit; 500 volunteers; collaboration with Healthy Detroit, The Clark Park Coalition, ACCESS, and Wayne State Americorps Urban Safety Initiative; 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Contact: Nicholas Mukhtar (586) 722-3453.
·Cabot between St. John and Arnold; 50+ volunteers; Southwest Detroit Pride and neighborhood residents; 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Contact: John Lopez (313) 258-1001.
·Rouge Park (Group to meet at 8 a.m. at Joy and Spinoza and spread out across Rouge Park) 300 volunteers; The Friends of Rouge Park, Friends of the Rouge, Quicken Loans, Marathon, Far West Neighborhood Association, Buffalo Soldiers, D-Town Farm; 8 a.m. - noon. Contact: Sally Petrella, 313-792-9621.
·Joy Community -- Southfield Service Drive between Capital and Warren, Plymouth and Warwick, Joy Road and St. Mary's, Montrose and Orangelawn, Orangelawn between Westwood and Evergreen.
The Motor City Makeover campaign is in partnership with Keep Detroit Beautiful, which focuses on cleaning, beautification, recycling, adopting parks and vacant lots, and gardening.
