Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander will be honored by U.S. Navy

Detroit (WXYZ) - The U.S Navy and professional baseball are teaming up to honor a Detroit Tiger. 

Justin Verlander will be presented with the 2013 Bob Feller Act of Valor Award Wednesday in Washington, D.C. 

He is getting the honor for displaying the values, integrity, and dedication to serving the United States that Bob Feller once displayed. Feller is a Hall of Fame pitcher who enlisted in the Navy after the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Verlander is being recognized for his work with the Victory for Veterans program.  It honors veterans who return home from Iraq and Afghanistan.  He also started Wins and Warriors , a program that provides mental health support for veterans.
