Cass Tech grad Tracy Reese is the designer behind Mrs. Obama's convention dress

DETROIT (WXYZ) - As the Democratic National Convention continues, the web is abuzz with the first lady's dazzling dress last night.

And the designer behind the stunner is none other than a Detroiter.

The dress, which is getting rave reviews, was designed by Detroit native and Cass Tech graduate Tracy Reese, whose star in the fashion industry continues to rise.

At the posh Roma Sposa dress shop in downtown Birmingham, owner and stylist Anna Castaldi-Roselli told Action News today that Reese nailed the look for Mrs. Obama.

"I think it suited her personality, and I think it was really flattering on her and I love the combination of colors," Castaldi-Roselli said.

Reese has designed a number of dresses for the first lady over the years, but this may have been the biggest stage yet showcasing one of her designs.

"Tracy Reese, I love her because she makes dresses for every woman's silhouette. She knows the woman's body really well."
