DETROIT (WXYZ) - A dramatic scene unfolded outside a Detroit Police precinct on the city's west side this afternoon.
Officers opened fire on a man after a stabbing.
The driver of a gray Toyota was involved. He pulled up outside the precinct, looking for someone in a white SUV that ended up parked on the curb next to the second precinct.
Within seconds officers were everywhere and the two men were on the ground.
It was a frantic scene outside the second precinct, with one man suffering from multiple stab wounds. The second was suffering from a gunshot wound.
Officers shot him in the thigh after he ignored their request to put the knife down.
Investigators are calling the situation a domestic dispute. They say the two men were in a relationship that clearly turned ugly enough for the victim to seek police intervention.
Police were notified when the victim came up to the police station saying, ‘He’s going to kill me.’
Officers were walking out of the precinct at that time he pulled up.
Both men were rushed to the hospital as investigators now continue to retrace exactly how this all unfolded in front of the building usually regarded as a safe haven.
