DETROIT (WXYZ) - The man accused of attempting to blow up a Detroit-bound plane appeared in Federal Court Tuesday.
Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab and lawyers from both sides appeared before Judge Nancy Edmunds.
Abdulmutallab, who is representing himself with the assistance of an attorney, objected to the prosecutor's motion to use a model of the explosive Abdulmutallab placed in his underwear as evidence.
The prosecution is requesting that the model of the explosive and the video portrayal of what could have happened had the bomb detonated.
The prosecuting attorney will also motion to allow an Al-Qaeda expert to take the stand once the trial begins.
Attorneys from both sides also began sorting through jury questionnaires as the initial step in selecting the pool of 65 set to meet on on October 4.
The trial is scheduled for October 11.
