DETROIT (WXYZ) - Here's just the sign of spring we've been looking for! The grounds crew at Comerica Park is working hard to install the new sod on the Detroit Tigers field.
The Kentucky Blue Grass from Colorado arrived Thursday morning.
This is the first complete re-sodding for the Detroit Tigers field since 2007. Once the sod is in place, the mound, home plate, and infield skin will be compacted and graded.
The new sod will all be in place and the field will be set to go in time for the big Opening Day matchup against the Royals on March 31.
