DETROIT (WXYZ) - Months ago, General Motors declared that they would not purchase commercials in this year's Super Bowl . While we saw no GM cars in the ads, rumors swirled that a car would show up elsewhere during the game.
In the end, no GM vehicle ever appeared during the game.
Today, 7 Action News asked General Motors what happened. Was the 2014 Corvette (introduced in January) ever supposed to show up during the Super Bowl?
It turns out there were indeed talks to have the Corvette show up during halftime. GM says, "We were approached by the producers of the Super Bowl half time show about the possibility of integrating a car into the show production."
They tell 7 Action News, "We worked with all the parties involved on a variety of possibilities, including one scenario that would have included the new Corvette Stingray as part of the show."
So what happened?
Their statement went on to explain, "In the end it did not work out, but we were honored to be asked to be involved, and pleased the Corvette was the vehicle of choice."
