(WXYZ) - Detroit City Council President Charles Pugh did not show up at city hall and did not meet the 5:00 p.m. deadline set by Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr.
Orr told Pugh he was denying a request for a one month medical leave of absence and if he did not work Pugh should resign.
No word from Pugh on his future plans.
Emergency Manager Spokesman Bill Nowling says they are working with attorneys to cut Pugh's pay and strip Pugh of his authority.
The Emergency Manager can not remove an elected official.
Other Detroit City Council members have declined to talk about Pugh's possible personal problems beyond a medical leave.
The City Council has a critical meeting Thursday morning to wrap up business in the fiscal year including cutting some of its own staff.
Meantime, attorneys for a local mom plan to file a lawsuit against Charles Pugh claiming he had inappropriate contact with her son.
