DETROIT (WXYZ) - Thank you! More than 100 volunteers picked up sledgehammers and cleared debris today as part of the second #Backchannel Bustup - an effort to tear down a house and clean up a Detroit neighborhood.
We asked our social media friends – the #Backchannel – to lend a few hours of time and energy. They really came through - along with the fine folks at Motor City Connect and 313Dlove.
From 8:45 a.m. until 4 p.m. crews worked to demolish and clear away an eyesore homes just a few blocks away from the beautiful Redford Theatre movie palace.
This was a great way for all of our social media friends to meet one another in person – not just on Facebook or Twitter – and accomplish something positive for our community.
Thank you to everyone who stepped in and worked hard today to brighten a neighborhood.
