Brother-in-law held in Whitmore Lake woman's murder

GREEN OAK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) - New information is emerging in the murder investigation of a young woman killed in her own home.

The man accused: Her own brother-in-law!

Prosecutors at the Livingston County Judicial Center are working with the Green Oak Township Police Department on the murder of 23-year-old Rachelle Lynn Wood.

Wood’s body was found Monday in her apartment at the Whitmore Lake Apartments.

Police have 25-year-old Nicholas Allen Foerster in custody. Officers say he called them to report finding Wood’s body.

Foerster is being held in the Livingston County Jail without bond. He faces fire degree murder

Prosecutor Bill Vailliencourt isn’t releasing many details at this point. He says Wood was naked when her body was found in her bathtub.

He also says Foerster confessed to the crime.

“During the arraignment, I did advise the magistrate that the defendant had confessed to choking the victim for a period of 7 minutes, knowing that it would cause death,” Vailliencourt said during a news conference.

Foerster does not have a prior criminal history.

Vailliencourt would not elaborate on the relationship between Foerster and Wood, other than to say they were in-laws.

Foerster is due in court on Tuesday morning.
