HOWELL, Mich. (WXYZ) - 7 Action News has learned that a two-year-old girl who was hospitalized after a house fire, has passed away.
Investigators say the toddler, whose name is not being released, had burns over 95% of her body when she was taken to the University of Michigan Hospital for treatment.
The girl's mother, Amber Robinson, carried the toddler out of their burning home at the Fairlawn Estates Mobile Home Park. Flames broke out in the room where Amber and her two daughters were sleeping around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The victim's father, James Robinson, and her 4-year-old sister were also able to escape the fire.
Investigators believe the fire was caused by an electrical problem in the room where the mother and children were sleeping.
The family slept while the flames took hold of the house since their smoke detectors were not working.
