ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WXYZ) - Roseville Police are investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of a 16-year-old girl from St. Clair Shores.
Seven other people, including six other teens, were also injured in the crash. All of them were riding in the same vehicle.
The accident happened shortly after midnight. Police say the 16-year-old and the injured people were driving north on Little Mack. Officers say that as they approached 12 Mile Road, the driver of a Ford Expedition blew through a red light light, hitting a westbound vehicle.
Police say the 16-year-old was riding in the back of the Expedition without a seatbelt and was ejected from the car. She died at the scene from multiple injuries.
The other people in the Expedition all suffered various injuries and were transported to area hospitals. Four of the teens and the adult were all treated and released. The two other teens were admitted to the hospital in serious condition with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the other car was not hurt. She has been identified as a 33-year-old Clinton Township woman. She was arrested at the scene after officers determined that she was driving drunk. She is being held at the Roseville jail.
The findings of the investigation will be turned over to the Macomb county Prosecutors Officer for possible charges.
