$40,000 stolen from Shelby Twp. Catholic church after Easter services at St. Therese Lisieux

SHELBY TWP., Mich. (WXYZ) - More than $40,000 in cash is estimated to have been stolen from the St. Therese Lisieux Catholic Church. Police tell 7 Action News a break-in occurred overnight, after Easter services.

UPDATE: Two area churches now report that donations were stolen. Police believe the crimes are connected

Chief Rolland Woelkers of the Shelby Township Police says the cash was taken along with a number of chalices.

The stolen cash had been donated by parishioners over the holiday weekend.

The church is located at 48115 Schoenherr Road in Shelby Township.
