Anonymous donor gives woman new motorized scooter after hers was stolen

An anonymous Warren attorney has donated a new motorized scooter to Kathy Ladd.

Last Sunday, the 62-year-old says she had her prized motorized scooter stolen from the lobby of the Park Place Towers in Mt. Clemens while she was at church.

Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham and Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith went to see Ladd today to deliver the surprise. They say they've been getting a huge response from people around the country who wanted to help.

"It's nice to know when there's a victim of a crime people are out there willing to give back," says Sheriff Wickersham.

"So many more people are reaching out. We're going to see if we can take the other donations to see if we can help others as well," says Prosecutor Smith.

Ladd says she has pulmonary hypertension and COPD and needs her motorized scooter to get around.

"To use this scooter, it's not so taxing on my heart. It feels so good to know that people care," says Ladd.

Investigators are still searching for the man seen on surveillance video riding away on Ladd's motorized scooter.
