(WXYZ) - A 59-year-old mother from St. Clair Shores could be charged with the murder of her own 32-year-old son.
Police said his body parts we're discovered recently in St. Clair County.
There are striking similarities between this case and one from 7 years ago. Back then Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel was the sheriff and recalled how it all played out saying "Unfortunately sometimes suspects won't talk to you."
Hackel talked about leading the investigation that sent convicted killer Stephen Grant to prison for the murder and dismemberment of his wife Tara.
Hackel recalled the crime 7 years ago and the eerie similarities, including a missing persons report first filed by a close family member.
"As we progressed people said quit picking on Stephen but we knew something was wrong" said Hackel.
A few days ago Chopper 7 flew overhead where body parts were thrown out of a moving SUV.
Back when Hackel investigated Stephen Grant there were human remains scattered throughout Stoney Creek Metro Park.
Then and now Hackel said there are two things working in favor of detectives.
"People behind these crimes have to deal with guilt and truth and people tend to say something to someone out of guilt" said Hackel.
We're expecting the woman in custody to be charged with open murder Monday. Stay with 7 Action News for the very latest as this story unfolds.
