MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (WXYZ) - A political fight is developing over Macomb County's budget that could lead to more than a dozen departments shutting down.
At issue are the distribution of funds as they are laid out in the upcoming budget.
Members of the Macomb County Board of Commissioners say they have not been able to get additional information on wages and benefits from Macomb County Executive Mark Hackell's office.
Because of this, the Board of Commissioners passed the budget without the information during a special meeting Saturday morning.
According to a spokesperson for the board, this has led to Hackell accusing the board of not passing a legal budget because the information was not included.
Hackell has threatened to shut down 3 county programs if a budget is not passed before the state of the new fiscal year.
