WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) - If you can't find your waterlogged car in Warren, call the police department.
Police officials tell 7 Action that they have towed about 250 cars so far, as they race to try to clear roads.
Deputy Police Commissioner Louis Galasso says they have no choice; for safety reasons they must get all vehicles off the streets.
Police say it's impossible for them to get a hold of each vehicle owner, so if you can't find your car, call the Warren Police Department and they can tell you which tow company moved the vehicle.
Galasso says unfortunately, drivers will have to pay the impound fees, but added that most insurance companies will cover the emergency towing expense.
Also, 7 Action News has learned the Warren Police property room has been heavily damaged by the severe flooding.
The basement of both the Warren Police department and adjacent court building at one point contained six feet of water.
Evidence in current criminal cases may be impacted by the flood damage.
