(WXYZ) - The woman who is accused of dismembering and dumping her son's body parts is now charged with First Degree Premeditated Murder.
Donna Scrivo, 60, was arraigned on murder charges on Monday. Charges came after the Macomb County Medical Examiner ruled that her son, 32-year-old Ramsay Scrivo, died from asphyxiation and ruled his death a homicide.
Scrivo had previously been charged with Disinternment and Mutilation of a Body and Removing a Body Without Medical Examiner's permission.
According to authorities, the investigation includes security videos that show Scrivo purchasing a Skilsaw that was used to dismember her son's body. The Skillsaw was found in one of the bags containing body parts that were allegedly dumped by Donna Scrivo. DNA evidence was also found in her vehicle.
“These charges of First Degree Premeditated Murder demonstrate the lengths Mrs. Scrivo went to before, during, and after the murder of her son. We are extremely pleased Judge Oster set a bond that keeps her off the streets” said Prosecutor Eric Smith.
St. Clair Shores Police Chief Todd Woodcox states: “This case, while disturbing, has been a model for interdepartmental communication and cooperation. The seamless transition of this case from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office to the St. Clair Shores Police Department is a testament to the professionalism of the investigators from both departments. I would like to thank the other law enforcement agencies that have assisted in this investigation, specifically; the Michigan State Police, the Sterling Heights Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
