Free workshop today in Macomb County to discuss safe infant sleeping practices

ST CLAIR SHORES, Mich. (WXYZ) - The Macomb County Health Department is hosting a free workshop today to discuss safe infant sleeping practices.

The health department was awarded a state grant to launch its Infant Safe Sleep Initiative.

The goal of the program is to decrease the number of infant deaths due to unsafe sleep environments.

The grant will be used for community awareness programs and to provide free infant safety skill-building workshops.

The workshops will offer free tips and demonstrations on safe sleep practices, safe car seat installations and infant CPR.

A workshop will take place today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Macomb County Health Department's southeast location at 25401 Harper in St. Clair Shores.

A second workshop will be held Thursday, September 26 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Clinton Township Community Outreach Center, located at 34750 Village Road in Clinton Township.
