Wednesday, Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel delivered the 6th Annual State of the County address.

It happened at the Macomb County Center for Performing Arts and the Taste of Macomb County immediately followed the address.

Hackel celebrated the county’s achievements this year, including growing jobs in the IT industry, the first year for Jimmy John’s Field in Utica and opening the first family resource center.

"You know public officials don't create jobs, but we create an environment where we start and highlight what our assets are,” said Hackel.

“The coordination of efforts to try and grow in areas that are of interest in Macomb County in particular, automotive, defense as well as manufacturing.” said Hackel.

Something not mentioned in the address, the bribery charges three separate trustees from Macomb County face.

Federal officials have said it’s all a part of an ongoing investigation into systemic corruption in Macomb County.

"I've got to believe that 99% of the public officials that are out there are trying to work together, try to do the right things, trying to get things done and aren't taking bribes and aren't taking money from people,” said Hackel.

This was the 6th annual State of the County, it’s been happening every year since Hackel took office.
