A suburban community is outraged over cuts to their schools.

This comes down to a community demanding a first class education, and a district that's been forced to deliver bad news.

Parents, students and teachers packed the room as Utica Community School leaders face the music.

Their recent move to slash millions from the budget also includes a $2 million dollar cut to English language classes thousands of students desperately depend on.

In a district of more than 28,000 students the immediate impact will come at the elementary level.

Next school year, many anticipate major teacher layoffs ultimately harming students who are learning English for the first time.

Holding candles as a show of solidarity outside the meeting many teachers and parents simply would not speak with us. Off camera, many admit to fear of the school district, which allegedly ordered them to stay away from our cameras.
