WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) - Police are investigating the shooting of three people at a home in Warren.
It's believed robbery is the motive, as the eldest victim had just come into an inheritance.
The victims are a 57-year-old man, his 56-year-old wife and their 17-year-old son. Two other people, friends of the 17-year-old, were in the home at the time. They were not injured.
The shooting happened around 11:00 p.m. Sunday at a home at the intersection of Peters and Toepfer. That's just west of Van Dyke, between 8 and 9 Mile.
The building is a house that has been divided into three apartment units. The shooting happened in the rear most unit.
Police say three masked came into the home armed with a long gun and a hand gun. The 57-year-old man attempted to fight them off with a BB gun, before he was shot.
All three were taken to the hospital. The 53-year-old mother was the most severely injured. She is listed in critical condition.
Police say they are zeroing in on persons of interest in the case and it's possible arrests may be made before the end of the day.
