SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) - Police say one person was tied up overnight during a home invasion. The noise the thieves were making was so loud it caught the attention of a neighbor.
Police Chief Roland Woelkers says a resident next door heard the loud commotion coming from the home and went to check it out. That's when he found his neighbor had been assaulted.
It happened in a quiet Shelby Township subdivision at the corner of Shelby Creek drive and Runyan Lane.
"When he got home in the early morning hours there was three individuals that were wearing ski masks that were waiting for him in the driveway garage area," Chief Woelkers said.
The suspects reportedly overpowered the victim and restrained him with zip ties and duct tape.
The man was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and is in stable condition. The suspects are on the loose.
Police say the break-in was specific to the home and homeowner and not a random break-in.
"We have some good information that it's not random that it's specific to him, we're following up some good leads so I want to assure the community that there's no threat to our citizens out there in the township," the Chief said.
