POLICE: Person of interest in custody in Clinton Township mother, daughter murder

(WXYZ) - Police confirm they have a person of interest in custody for questioning in connection with the murder of a Clinton Township mother and her 11-year-old daughter.

Clinton Township Police say 47-year-old Tina Geiger and her daughter Christina were killed with what investigators are calling a "cutting instrument." There was no sign of forced entry at their unit at Parkway Village Apartments.

Police say both victims were mentally challenged and have been missing for days.

"They have a caregiver, a guardian who called the apartment manager to come over and check on them." said Captain Richard Meirle, Clinton Township Police.

And that's when the apartment manager discovered the mother's body on the living room floor. Police found her 11-year-old daughter in a bedroom.

"Her daughter went to a special school… picked her up right in front of the door.  Tina used to go in the daytime to a place called CSDD for adults with mental impairment," said Glenda Delong, the victim's former caregiver.

Pamela Minnifield, a neighbor down the hall and close friend of the victims says the mother and daughter were inseparable.

"This is just so wrong that somebody would do something like this to my sister and my niece.  They would never hurt a soul," said Cheryl Gladieux, the victim's sister.

Neighbors say the victims would have never let a stranger in, and police say there were no signs of forced entry.

"I just have no clue I just hope they find him and if anybody knows anything just please come to the township police department and let them know… they can be anonymous," said Cheryl.
