CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Police say two people are dead following a single-vehicle crash in suburban Detroit.
Police say an SUV that may have been speeding went off a road early Tuesday in Macomb County's Clinton Township, hit a utility pole and burst into flames.
The driver and passenger were unresponsive when pulled from the vehicle by rescue crews. Police say they weren't immediately identified.
Neighbors in the area tried to help the victims, but the vehicle was engulfed in flames.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. It is not clear if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
Investigators are awaiting toxicology reports. According to officials, dental records will be necessary to identify the victims.
