Roseville Police arrest suspected child predator who allegedly tried to arrange date with 14 yr. old

ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WXYZ) - Darren Calvin Bailey, a 33-year-old man from Roseville, was arrested after he allegedly tried to arrange a date with a 14-year-old girl.

The Special Investigations Division of the Roseville Police Department along with the Southeast Michigan Crimes Against Children Task Force conducted the investigation which led to the arrest.

The investigation began when the victim's father notified police that his daughter was receiving inappropriate messages from a boy claiming to be a teenage boy.

Investigators began posing as the victim and began to exchange text messages with the suspect. According to police, the suspect made several requests for sexual favors and photos. He also sent nude photos of himself to what he thought was the 14-year-old girl.

On Wednesday night, the suspect made arrangements to meet the girl for sexual favors at a park in Roseville.

When the suspect arrived, he was met by officers. The suspect tried to run away and fought with officers.

Officers were forced to taser the suspect. He was arraigned Thursday afternoon on two counts of Child Sexually Abusive Behavior, one count of Using a Computer to Commit a Crime and one count of Assaulting a Police Officer.

Bailey is being held in the Macomb County Jail until his preliminary examination on September 11.
