KFC surveillance video shows armed robbery of Kentucky Fried Chicken in Sterling Heights

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (WXYZ) - Sterling Heights Police released surveillance video that shows a robbery at the Kentucky Fried Chicken on Van Dyke.


It happened Monday night around 9:20 p.m. shortly after the fast-food restaurant closed.

A man was reportedly banging on the door saying his friend was hit by a car.

An employee let him in and that's when the suspect reportedly pulled out a knife.

The video shows the robber ordering an employee to empty the register and give him all the money.

Video shows the suspect taking the money and then leaving.

None of the workers were injured. Police were able to locate the suspect at a mobile home park located at Triangle and Utica Roads.

Police arrested the 26-year-old man and recovered clothing and the weapon. Officers placed him in the squad car and they say he then tried to climb into the front seat of their car.

The suspect was arraigned on charges of armed robbery and resisting and obstructing an arrest.  His bond was set at more than $250,000.
