ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WXYZ) - The grandmother of Matthew Landry, a young man kidnapped in Roseville and murdered in Detroit, may be a victim of the Buehler Funeral home fraud.
79-year-old Nancy Landry says she paid Lisa and Mark Buehler close to $1,000 in 1995 for her and her husband's funeral and cremation, then when she saw them on the news she was shocked.
Landry says she can't take the stress of this on top of losing her loving grandson and her husband, who died of lung cancer a few years ago.
Nancy has heart problems and wasn't able to go to court during the trials for Matt's killers. She says it's a good thing she wasn't in court for the Buehler's arraignment because she would have let them know just how upset she is.
The good news is, the Kaul Funeral home is going to help the people who pre-paid at Buehlers. They have already had hundreds of calls and say they will handle the services for these people, however they will not provide merchandise. In other words, they will take care of the body and have the visitation for free, but the families will have to pay for the casket and the cemetery plot or cremation.
For Nancy Landry that means if the money she gave to the Buehler's is spent, Kaul's will help her family when she dies, but they would have to pay $200 for the cremation.
Nancy hopes she will be around for quite while. She says she hopes the Buehlers, if convicted, get what they deserve.
Lisa and Mark Buehler are in the Macomb County jail, each on a $200,000 cash bond.
